Chaparral Water Treatment Plant Scottsdale, Arizona

In June, 2004, Ameron was awarded a contract by Achen Gardner Engineering, LLC to manufacture the Welded Steel Pipe for the Chaparral Water Treatment Plant Influent and Discharge Line. The pipe consists of roughly 21,000 lineal feet of pipe and fittings, ranging in diameter from 16” to 54”.

In July, 2004, Ameron was awarded the contract to produce approximately 20,500 linear feet of 24” Welded Steel pipe for Pierson Construction for the north side of the Water Treatment Plant Influent Line to Via de Ventura.

For both projects, the City of Scottsdale specified Welded Steel Pipe, Cement Mortar Lined and Tape Coated with a cement mortar Armor coat as the only pipe choice for this waterline. Cylinder thickness for both projects ranged from 1/4” to 1/2” for the pipe wall. All joints are field welded.

The project is located to the east of the southeast corner of Hayden Road and McDonald Drive and covers approximately 29 acres. Upon completion of this project, the Water Treatment Plant will be capable of treating 30 million gallons of Arizona canal water per day. The site consists of three parcels currently zoned for commercial offices, businesses and open space. It is planned to have a variety of recreational facilities in the open space areas.

The projected completion date of the project is April, 2006 and the cost is budgeted to be $85 million.
